What record was broken? The Largest Living Tree by Volume! General Sherman, a sequoia in Sequoia National Park is 271ft (82.6m) tall, measures 85ft (25.9m) in circumference, and weighs an estimated 4 million pounds (1,814 tonnes)! He’s also over 2,100 years old!
What makes it wonderful? Sequoias in general are magnificent for their size and longevity! This general, General Sherman, embodies their awe-inspiring patience! He has stood watch over this patch of forest since before the modern era began!
