The Mirror Building!

The Mirror Building (Site of Butterfield Stage Station)
Landmark #744 Los Angeles County Visited: April 10, 2011 Plaque?  YES! 🙂
What is it? A plaque marking the site of the largest and best equipped station along the Butterfield Overland Mail route!
What makes it historical? THE GUIDE SAYS: The Butterfield Overland Mail Company took an option on this piece of property in August 1858 and acquired it on December 7, 1859. A large brick building containing offices and living quarters, with shops and stables in the rear, was completed in 1860. With the exception of the station at El Paso, Texas, this was the largest and best equipped station on the entire route.

OTHER TIDBITS: That pretty well sums it up!

How can I Help the Helpers? HERE’S HOW:

  • Pay for a tour and contribute toward site maintenance, sign design, and other visitor services!
  • Donate to the Native Daughters of the Golden West!
  • Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
