Site of the Lugo Adobe!

Site of the Lugo Adobe
Landmark #301 Los Angeles County Visited: April 10, 2011 Plaque?  NO. 🙁
What is it? Now just a park without a plaque, where the Lugo Adobe once stood!
What makes it historical? THE GUIDE SAYS: The Lugo Adobe, said to have been built in the 1840s by Don Vicente Lugo, was one of the very few two-story houses in the pueblo of Los Angeles. In 1867, Lugo donated this house on the Plaza to St. Vincent’s School (forerunner of Loyola University). From the 1880s until it was razed in 1951, the building was occupied by the Chinese.

OTHER TIDBITS: That pretty well sums it up!

How can I Help the Helpers? HERE’S HOW:

  • You can write and donate to Los Angeles City Historical Society!
  • Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
Where is this place? LISTED DIRECTIONS:
El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument
SE corner of Los Angeles and Alameda Sts
Los Angeles, CA 90012

ANNOTATIONS:
The adobe stood in a park at the northeast corner of Los Angeles Plaza. The closest thing to a marker is either the Junípero Serra statue or the Veterans Memorial.
