What is it? A stone monument commemorating the pioneers who passed through Kemmerer on their way to Oregon!
What makes it historical? THE PLAQUE SAYS: To all pioneers who passed this way to win and hold the West. Erected by popular subscription citizens of Kemmerer 1931.

OTHER TIDBITS: This was one of many sites along the Oregon Trail, over which thousands of emigrants traveled between 1803 and 1846 to settle present-day Oregon, Washington, and Idaho to claim them from the British! The dangerous route took 10 months to complete!
