Casa Rosada!

Casa Rosada
What is it? The Casa Rosada, or Pink House, is the headquarters of Argentina’s president!
What makes it historical? Originally a fort built in 1585 to house Spanish viceroys, then a customs house built by an English architect, the Casa Rosada as we know it today started out as two buildings! The first half was meant to be a postal palace and was built and painted pink under Presidente Domingo Sarmiento in 1873! The next Presidente, Julio Roca, built an identical building next door, and the two were joined together in 1886! It took three separate architects, one to build each building and the third to join them!

The famous balcony, from which Evita addressed the people of Argentina, was part of the second building!
