Tuzigoot National Monument!

Tuzigoot National Monument
What is it? Tuzigoot National Monument preserves an ancient Sinaguan hilltop pueblo overlooking the Verde River!
What makes it beautiful? This magnificent citadel is a crown jewel on top of this hill, a place where ideas flowed as freely as the Verde River, where macaws came from Central America to take part in the making of the Flower World! The Flower World, in case you were wondering, is a state of being that native folks across the Southwest and into Mesoamerica have long sung about! It’s a flowery paradise with birds and bells and butterflies, which, is you imagine that surrounding this magnificent pueblo, is pretty awe-inspiring!

In addition to the grandeur of the pueblo at large, the visitor center here has also put out a display to pay homage to the original Three Sisters that brought life into the desert (corn, beans, and squash)! On display are green and healthy seedlings of teosinte (corn ancestor), Ha:l (squash ancestor), and tepary beans! It’s worth taking time to admire them!

How can I Help the Helpers? HERE’S HOW:

  • Pay the entrance fee and contribute toward trail and structural maintenance, sign design, and other visitor services!
  • Volunteer at Tuzigoot National Monument!
  • Donate to Tuzigoot National Monument!
  • Be a responsible visitor! Remember the old adages: Pack out what you pack in! Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints!
