Denver City & County Building!

Denver City & County Building
What is it? The City and County Building is the center of local government for the city and county of Denver!
What makes it historical? The Pike’s Peak Gold Rush brought tons of prospectors into the new town of Denver, which grew and thrived, but just did not look pretty! So in 1904, Mayor Robert Speer, inspired by the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago and the 1901 book History of Denver, launched a massive overhaul of the city during his three terms. Apart from installing new sidewalks, storm sewers and lighting at night, the movement pushed for landscaped city parks and magnificent public buildings like the Municipal Auditorium and the City and County Building, completed in 1932!
How can I Help the Helpers? HERE’S HOW:

  • Volunteer with the Civic Center Conservancy!
  • Donate to History Colorado!
  • Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
