Bouse Fisherman Intaglio!

Fisherman Intaglio
What is it? An intaglio, or geoglyph, that depicts a spear-wielding fisherman!
What makes it historical? No one knows for sure when this fisherman was scraped into the desert crust, but the man spearing a fish is said to be the god, Kumastamo! Kumastamo drove his spear into the ground, and from it burst the Colorado River! This is part of a much larger system of Giant Desert Figures that multiple tribes consider a sacred viewshed, or undisturbed space between mountains! The first known person to see them from the air was local pilot, George Palmer, in 1932!
How can I Help the Helpers? HERE’S HOW:

  • Volunteer with the Bureau of Land Management!
  • Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
