St. Vincent Court!

St. Vincent Court
Landmark #567 Los Angeles County Visited: April 30, 2011 Plaque?  YES! 🙂
What is it? A plaque marking the site of St. Vincent’s College, the first institution of higher learning in Southern California!
What makes it historical? THE GUIDE SAYS: This was the site of Saint Vincent’s College from 1868 to 1887. The college, now Loyola University, was founded by the Vincentian Fathers in 1865 and was the first institution of higher learning in Southern California.

OTHER TIDBITS: Now, it’s a wonderful place to eat delicious food, like a piece of Paris snatched out of Europe and placed in the middle of Sketchytown, California!

How can I Help the Helpers? HERE’S HOW:

  • Visit some of the Court’s restaurants and tell your friends to do the same!
  • Volunteer with the California State Department of Parks and Recreation!
  • Donate to the California State Parks Foundation!
