What is it? |
The Forest of Sorginaritzaga, or Oak Wood of the Witches, was a prime gathering site for practicants of witchcraft in the late 16th and early 17th centuries! |
What makes it beautiful? |
I loved the eerie calm of a morning walk through these snow-dusted woods! I could feel a sense of magic in these woods, even though they were supposedly exorcised long ago by the installation of a White Cross! Nonetheless, some of the mysticism remains in its Basque name: Sorginaritzaga, which itself sounds like an incantation! |
