What is it? |
There are four curious stones on the coast near Muxía, which bear a striking resemblance to boat pieces! |
What makes it wonderful? |
When I was there, the sky had turned gray, and the ocean a deep, dark blue. The stones were shrouded in mystery as they have been for millennia. The ancient Celts used the rocking motions of the Pedra do Abalar to judge the innocence of suspected criminals, and the Pedra dos Cadris is rumored to cure back and kidney problems for anyone who crawls under it nine times! Whether or not any of these tales are true, I was struck by their resemblance to boat pieces, hearkening back to a story of how the Virgin Mary appeared here in a stone boat to encourage Saint James not to give up! The stones, in order of appearance, are the Pedra dos Cadris (Rudder), Pedra dos Namorados (Hull), Pedra de Abalar (Sail), and Pedra de Temón (Mast)! They are gorgeous rocky formations set against a spectacular, mysterious backdrop! |
