Shoreline Markers!

Shoreline Markers
Landmark #83 San Francisco County Visited: February 23, 2013 Plaque?  YES! 🙂
What is it? A plaque built into the pavement!
What makes it historical? THE GUIDE SAYS: “This tablet marks the shoreline of San Francisco Bay at the time of the discovery of gold in California, January 24, 1848. Map reproduced above delineates old shoreline.”

OTHER TIDBITS: San Francisco’s shoreline has changed so much because of years of being diked off and filled with dirt and trash. That’s why there are so few wetlands left in San Francisco!
