Silverado!

Silverado
Landmark #202 Orange County Visited: April 14, 2013 Plaque?  YES! 🙂
What is it? A plaque in a planter!
What makes it historical? THE GUIDE SAYS: Located in Cañada de la Madera (Timber Canyon) was a mining boomtown founded in 1878 when silver was discovered nearby. During the colorful life of its boom, 1878-1881, miners flocking to the area established a thriving community, served daily by stage from Los Angeles and Santa Ana.

OTHER TIDBITS: The initial silver boom was set off in 1877 by two hunters named Hank Smith and William Curry. It lasted for ten years! The richest mine was the Blue Light Mine founded by deputy US marshal Jonathon D. Dunlap, who did some prospecting while chasing a criminal into the canyon!
