What is it? | The prodigious hubcap collection of Litto Damonte! |
What makes it historical? | THE GUIDE SAYS: This is one of California’s exceptional Twentieth Century Folk Art Environments. Over a period of 30 years, Emanuele “Litto” Damonte (1896-1985), with the help of his neighbors, collected more than 2,000 hubcaps. All around Hubcap Ranch are constructions and arrangements of hubcaps, bottles, and pulltops which proclaim that “Litto, the Pope Valley Hubcap King,” was here.
OTHER TIDBITS: This was actually Litto’s retirement home after years working in San Francisco as a cement contractor and tile setter! His hobby led him to collect up to 3,000 hubcaps, but his grandkids are still collecting! Now, the Hubcap Ranch has over 5,000 of the shiny metal pieces, along with license plates from almost every state! |
How can I Help the Helpers? | HERE’S HOW:

Where is this place? | LISTED DIRECTIONS: 6654 Pope Valley Rd (P.M. 14.3) 2.1 mi NW of Pope Valley, CA 94567 ANNOTATIONS: From Los Angeles: ~434mi (699km) — 7.3hrs |
When should I go? | The ranch is still private property, owned by Litto’s grandkids! The first time I visited (before accidentally deleting my memory card) they invited me over to take a better look around! The second time, the gate was closed! So, my suggestion is to visit sometime on a weekend during the afternoon and see if they’re home! They’re happy to show off their grandpa’s work! |
