The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial!

Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial

What Is the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial?

The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial is the largest presidential memorial on the National Mall!

What Makes It Beautiful?

I love that this memorial has different stages for each of Mr. Roosevelt’s four terms, featuring his most impactful quotes. The statues in each stage, particularly those from the Depression era, are very raw and express so much of the hardship faced by the American people. In each stage, Mr. Roosevelt’s statue gets larger as his clout grows, and the sculptors even saw fit to include a statue of his Scottish terrier, named Fala! I love how peaceful this memorial is in the early morning, the sounds of the ever-flowing waterfalls, and the views of the Potomac, the Washington Monument, and the Jefferson Memorial. It is the perfect place to reflect on the leader who got this country through some of its toughest challenges!
