What makes it historical? | THE GUIDE SAYS: In 1841 the municipality of Monterey granted a lot to Joaquín Gutiérrez where he and his wife, Josefa, built an adobe home. The house has been donated to the State by the Monterey Foundation.
OTHER TIDBITS: Unlike most Spanish-speaking folks living in Monterey during this time, Señor Gutiérrez was from Chile! He raised 15 children in this home! |
