Ebner’s Hotel!

Ebner's Hotel
Landmark #602 Sacramento County Visited: March 22, 2015 Plaque?  NO. 🙁
What is it? Ebner’s Hotel is now a retail establishment!
What makes it historical? THE GUIDE SAYS: This hotel was built by Charles Ebner in 1856. It is said that Captain Sutter was a frequent visitor here.

OTHER TIDBITS: Charles worked with his brother Frank, who was also responsible for the construction of the neighboring Empire Building! The cupola of Ebner’s Hotel was a useful landmark for folks heading to Sacramento, letting them know they were almost there! The hotel and its basement liquor business were well respected until the railroad came through in 1870, turning Old Sacramento into a slum! Ebner’s Hotel came down in 2003, but it has since been rebuilt as closely as possible to the original!
