Marshall’s Blacksmith Shop!

Marshall's Blacksmith Shop
Landmark #319 El Dorado County Visited: April 5, 2015 Plaque?  NO. 🙁
What is it? Nothing but trees and some bits of a foundation in someone’s backyard!
What makes it historical? THE GUIDE SAYS: Marshall’s blacksmith shop, located on the Gray Eagle Mine property, was built in 1872-73. Marshall not only was a smithy but also a qualified carpenter.

OTHER TIDBITSJames Marshall did get a government pension after discovering gold in California, but his discovery did not make him independently wealthy. His love of liquor didn’t help either! So, after forays into prospecting and vintage, he settled at last upon smithing in Kelsey, where he lived out the last of his days!
