What is it? | The remains of the Plymouth Trading Post still stand! |
What makes it historical? | THE GUIDE SAYS: This building, constructed entirely of brick, was built by Joe Williams in 1857. In 1873 the many small mines of the area were combined to become Plymouth Consolidated, and this building became the new company’s office and commissary.
OTHER TIDBITS: The town of Plymouth started well after several towns in the area had boomed and busted in the wake of the Sawyer Decision, which made hydraulic mining illegal! Now the local industry is much more environmentally friendly: open-range ranching and grape growing! |
