Not numbered. Oneida County Visited: May 11, 2016 Plaque?  YES! 🙂
What is it? A blue and yellow marker by Fort Stanwix!
What makes it historical? THE PLAQUE SAYS: Site of the inland canal begun in 1792 and completed in 1797. The Erie Canal was relocated here in 1844.

OTHER TIDBITS: The Erie Canal, completed October 26, 1825, ran 363 miles from the Hudson River at Albany to Lake Erie near Buffalo! This plaque marks a revision of the original canal between Rome to Dewitt! The revised canal is still in use for outdoor recreation!

When should I go? The home is open from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM, Tuesday through Friday, and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM!
