What is it? |
Timpanogos Cave National Monument is made up of three caves—Hansen, Middle, and Timpanogos—filled with incredible, delicate formations! |
What makes it beautiful? |
The beauty of Timpanogos is in its intricacy! This cave has America’s largest collection of helictites, spindly, spiraling formations shaped by water getting squeezed through cracks at high pressure! These formations range upward in size, to soda straws, to cave bacon, to the mighty Heart of the Mountain, a two-ton stalactite that hangs in splendor, flanked by its smaller family members!
Outside the cave, enjoy the views down American Fork Canyon from high atop the steep and winding trail! Each angle changes the view, and there’s an almost zenlike feeling that comes from tracing the winding path up the mountainside! |
How can I Help the Helpers? |
HERE’S HOW:
- Pay the entrance fee to help maintain trails, signs, structures, and other visitor services!
- Volunteer at Timpanogos Cave National Monument!
- Become a member of the Friends of Timpanogos Cave!
- Be a responsible visitor! Remember the old adages: Pack out what you pack in! Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints!
