What makes it beautiful? |
There’s beauty in diversity! The hills of this monument are covered in cacti of all shapes and sizes: organ pipes, chollas, saguaros, senitas, pincushions, and more! When I was there, the winter rains had turned everything green and lush. It’s no wonder that UNESCO declared this place an International Biosphere Reserve! It’s a pristine example of the Sonoran desert in its untouched state!
Abundant wildlife call this place home. Over 270 birds live here or pass through each year, and at the Quitobaquito Springs, you can find fish, turtles, and snails found nowhere else in the world! Mountain lions, and desert bighorns, and javelinas all call this place home, and if you’re lucky, you just might see some! |
