What Is Bukhansan National Park?
Bukhansan National Park protects the gorges, woodlands, and historic Buddhist temples surrounding Samgaksan, the three-horned mountain!
What Makes It Beautiful?
Completely surrounded by the city of Seoul, this park is a refuge from the hustle and bustle of civilization! With steep trails leading to towering cliffs and breathtaking vistas (and not just from the smog), the park is also a refuge for the soul. There are over 100 Buddhist temples and hermitages scattered throughout the park, framed by the mountains around them, with many tranquil spots to contemplate nature. Also, in the springtime, the trees burst into blossoms, coloring the mountainside along with colorful lanterns in honor of the Buddha’s birthday!
How Can I #HelpTheHelpers?

- Be a responsible visitor! Remember the old adages: Pack out what you pack in! Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints!
How Do I Get There?
There are lots of entrances, but here are the two most accessible from the subway:
- From Gupabal Station:
- 266-30 Jingwan-dong
Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul
South Korea
- From Ssangmun Station:
- 18-5 Ui-dong
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul

When Should I Visit the Park?
The park is open daily from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM. This place gets pretty crowded in the summer when the weather and water are warmest. The main tourist rush starts in the second week of May and peters off in September. If you want to enjoy this park in peace and quiet, I suggest visiting in spring or fall!
