What is it? |
A Union Pacific train depot in Laramie, Wyoming! |
What makes it historical? |
The first train to arrive in Laramie on the Union Pacific branch of the Transcontinental Railroad pulled into town on May 4, 1868! Within two weeks, the new town had over 2,000 residents! This depot served as a restaurant and hotel for the first 49 years of service until it burned on October 17, 1917! It was renovated in 1924, with only the women’s waiting room remaining from the original building! |
How can I Help the Helpers? |
HERE’S HOW:
- Become a member of the Laramie Historic Railroad Depot!
- Donate to the Laramie Historic Railroad Depot!
- Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
