What is it? A three-span, bow string, iron girder bridge!
What makes it historical? THE PLAQUE SAYS: Old Army Bridge over the Platte River, erected in 1875, this bridge was a vital link between Cheyenne, Fort Laramie and the Military outposts, Indian Agencies and Gold Fields of the Black Hills Dakota Region. Placed by the Historical Landmark Commission of Wyoming July 1951.

OTHER TIDBITS: This bridge, at the third of four crossings of the Platte River, was originally built by the King Iron Bridge Company in 1875. Though it was constructed long after the wagon trains had stopped rumbling over the prairie, it was still a crucial part of the road connecting Cheyenne, Wyoming to Deadwood, South Dakota!
