What is it? |
Valley of Fire State Park was Nevada’s first and is still a gorgeous place to take a hike! |
What makes it beautiful? |
Even in the rain, the “fire” part of this park’s name is pretty darn accurate. The spiny, red sandstone shoots up from the surrounding grays just like flames, and in the summer, it gets just as hot as fire too! Hiking any one of the trails in this park will take the visitor past towering red cliffs and along striped stone that looks like bacon or saltwater taffy! There’s even a duck and an elephant! This is a great park to soak your socks in red dirt, to trace the lines of time as they’ve been embedded in rock for millennia, and to discover the traces of cultures long departed! |
How can I Help the Helpers? |
HERE’S HOW:
- Pay the entrance fee to help maintain trails, signs, structures, and other visitor services!
- Volunteer with Nevada State Parks!
- Be a responsible visitor! Remember the old adages: Pack out what you pack in! Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints!
