What is it? |
Castle Mountains National Monument protects a unique desert environment in California’s Mojave Desert! |
What makes it beautiful? |
Since this is California’s newest NPS-run national monument, it is still a very remote place! In this solitude, it’s held on to one of California’s densest Joshua tree forests and desert grasslands, destroyed elsewhere by years of cattle ranching! Here, there is real desert quiet as you look out for rabbits, lizards, and snakes! Ascend one of the Castle Mountains for spectacular views of the Mojave on all sides! You won’t find any motorhomes or flip flops here. This is a place of pure wilderness! |
