What is it? |
This famous sign welcomes everyone to fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada! |
What makes it historical? |
In the 1950s, the casinos and resorts of Las Vegas were booming! Local salesman, Ted Rogich, wondered why the city didn’t have an equally booming welcome sign! Betty Willis came up with the design, which was called a Googie, and incorporated neon lights and symbols for dollar coins! Since 1959, this flashy sign has welcomed folks of all ages and backgrounds to the south end of the Strip! |
