What is it? |
This is the home of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia! |
What makes it historical? |
In 1893, 25-year old Francis Rattenbury entered a design contest for the parliamentary buildings of the new Canadian province of British Columbia! He won, and five years later, the home of the Legislative Assembly opened its doors for business! Combining neo-Baroque and Romanesque Revival styles, Mr. Rattenbury’s design won him lots of new commissions, including the Empress Hotel, Legislative Library, and Vancouver Court House! |
How can I Help the Helpers? |
HERE’S HOW:
- Become a member of the British Columbia Historical Federation!
- Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
