What is it? |
The still standing home of influential Big Bend rancher, Homer Wilson! |
What makes it historical? |
Homer Wilson, a mining and petroleum engineer who fought in Europe during World War I, moved into this area in 1929 and set up a massive 28,000-acre sheep and goat ranch at the base of the Chisos Mountains! The Wilson family lived here until 1943, when Mr. Wilson suddenly died, but their home still looks as though they could come back at any minute! |
How can I Help the Helpers? |
HERE’S HOW:
- Pay the entrance fee to help maintain trails, signs, structures, and other visitor services!
- Volunteer at Big Bend National Park!
- Become a member of the Big Bend Conservancy!
- Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
