What Is Parque Nacional Talampaya?
Talampaya National Park preserves the extraordinary Triassic fossils and towering red cliffs of western Argentina!
What Makes It Beautiful?
Before you even get started on your tour, take a look at the Sendero Triásico, which is full of beautifully crafted sculptures of the dinosaurs and other reptiles from the Triassic that were found here and gave the park its UNESCO designation! Meet the Zupaysaurus, the Fasolasuchus, and the prosauropod that really represents its province, Riojasaurus!
From here, you’ll be able to hop on a fun, yellow bus to head into the desert, passing wandering guanacos, resting maras, and if you’re lucky, a soaring Andean condor! Marvel at the towering red cliffs and the serenity of Talampaya Canyon. Since it’s only accessible by small tours, it’s never really that crowded. Though the tours move quickly, try to maximize your time enjoying the towering Gothic Cathedral, Tower, and Monk rock formations, or extend your trip with a tour of the Lost City or Rainbow Canyon!
