What Is Great Basin National Park?
Great Basin National Park protects the forests and caves surrounding Wheeler Peak, excellent examples of the ecosystems that make the Great Basin so unique!
What Makes It Beautiful?
There’s a kind of mysticism to this park, as you rise up from baking desert temperatures to sweater weather at the mountain trailheads! Its hard to top the bristlecone pines, some of the oldest living things in nature, for the way their branches reach for life amid their rugged, rocky environment. Look forward to sweeping views from the top of Wheeler Peak and fantastic formations underground in Lehman Cave (which I couldn’t see because of the COVID-19 Pandemic). It’s one of the least visited national parks in America, so you can expect some high-mountain peace and quite too!
