End of the Oregon Trail!

End of the Oregon Trail

What Is the End of the Oregon Trail?

This interpretive center in Oregon City, OR is dedicated to immersing visitors in life on the Oregon Trail, which stretched 2,170 miles from the Missouri River to what is now the Beaver State!

What Makes It Historical?

The Oregon Trail brought 268,000 people to (British) Oregon Territory between 1839 and the 1850s! On arrival, folks officially had to register in Oregon City, which makes this the perfect site to learn more about this famous trail terminus!

With an entrance shaped like one of the neat covered wagons that carried families across the Plains, past icons like Chimney Rock, this museum isn’t just a place to read exhibits; it’s a place to relive history! Churn butter! Make a rag doll! Learn how to submit your own land claim! This museum has plenty to teach about life on the Oregon Trail and even helps folks research their geneology to see if their ancestors traveled this perilous route!

How Can I #HelpTheHelpers?

  • Pay the entrance fee to help maintain trails, signs, structures, and other visitor services!
  • Volunteer with End of the Oregon Trail!
  • Donate to the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center!
  • Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
