What Is the Missoula Laundry Company?
Today, this is the Missoula Textile Services dry cleaner!
What Makes It Historical?
This historic laundry building got its start during Missoula’s second building boom after the Northern Pacific Railroad set up its route through town! That was around 1915 when the laundry company was owned by Joseph & Nettie Hagen. Joseph’s Swiss mother, Mary, had founded Montana’s first steam laundry in in Bozeman in 1900, and his siblings had founded their own laundry companies in Washington State! Around 1928, the Hagens brought on Henry Kirkemo (whose name you’d recognize from Zip Auto) to add new Art Deco sections to the laundry building, making theirs one of the finest Art Deco commercial structures in Missoula! With these artistic additions in place, the Missoula Laundry Company (now called Missoula Textile Services) is still a family owned dry cleaner today!
