What Is the Rosedale Odd Fellows Temple?
This multi-use building once housed Rosedale Lodge No. 102 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows!
What Makes It Historical?
With more than 500 members in the city of Boise, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows needed to construct more temples to house them! Here in the community of Rosedale, Lodge 102 bought a 100-foot lot in 1906 and hired the firm of Tourtellotte & Hummel to construct their new temple! Unlike the Chinese Odd Fellows Building, which recycled old building plans, this one featured a façade of pressed concrete blocks! Once it was completed at a budget of $6,000, I.O.O.F. activities took place in the upstairs level, while the ground floor was used as a shop! Today, this is one of Idaho’s last remaining buildings with a stepped Dutch gable!
