What Is the World’s Largest Scrap-Metal Sculpture?
At 110 feet in height, 154 feet in width, and weighing 157,659 pounds, Geese in Flight by Gary Greff is the world’s largest scrap-metal sculpture!
What Makes It Wonderful?
Apart from its beauty and record-breaking size, Geese in Flight is backed by one enchanting story! As many small towns across the country dwindled into ghost towns, their residents moving to big cities, sculptor Gary Greff wanted a different fate for his hometown of Regent, North Dakota! Inspired by the movie, Field of Dreams, he decided to build something extraordinary to encourage visitors to take the 30-mile detour off I-94!
Mr. Greff created seven enormous metal sculptures leading to his hometown, from giant grasshoppers to Teddy Roosevelt on horseback! Geese in Flight was completed in June of 2001, immediately earning its place in the Guinness Book of World Records, and the town of Regent has earned its place as a world-class destination at the end of the Enchanted Highway!
