What Is the Tavern at Rainbow Row?
This is the oldest continuously operating liquor store in the United States!
What Makes It Historical?
Opening as the “Seafarer’s Tavern” in 1686, this fine establishment has served signature spirits through the age of piracy, the Revolution, and the Civil War! It even kept serving during the Prohibition Era, making use of a network of underground tunnels that ran to speakeasies all across town. Those tunnels are still there today, even though the store itself is now a fully licensed and permitted establishment!
