What Is the Kettle Falls Hotel?
This historic hotel is the only lodging inside Voyageurs National Park!
What Makes It Historical?
In 1913, just after two dams were installed to control the water levels between Namakan and Rainy Lakes, Ed Rose had a hotel constructed at the lake junction in order to support commercial fishermen (1910s-20s), lumberjacks (1930s), and late-stage gold rushers working to make a living here in the Minnesota wilderness! It originally had 18 rooms spanning two stories, but after becoming part of Voyageurs National Park, it got a makeover, reducing its rooms to 12 and straightening up everything except its Lumberjack Saloon bar, the last saggy remainder of the “Tiltin’ Hilton!”
How Can I #HelpTheHelpers?
- Pay the entrance fee to help maintain trails, signs, structures, and other visitor services!
- Spend the night at the Kettle Falls Hotel!
- Donate to the Voyageurs Conservancy!
- Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
