Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve!

Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve

What Is Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve?

This is the largest national park in the whole system, spanning 9.6 million acres around the Wrangell and St. Elias Mountains!

What Makes It Beautiful?

It’s a weird patchwork of Park and Preserve, but out here in eastern Alaska, the weird is part of the fun! This park runs all the way from sea level to over 16,000 feet with towering peaks that house tons of glaciers, ready for exploring! Take a trail out of McCarthy to touch the Root Glacier or tour the high mines of the Kennecott Copper Company, or if you’re really dedicated, charter a flight to one of the more remote regions and stay in a public cabin! You’re all but guaranteed stunning mountain views and the colors of ice with wildflowers, ever richer as you get farther from civilization!
