What Is Virgin Islands National Park?
This park makes up most of the island of St. John, protecting its tropical dry forest, its historic plantations, and its coral reefs!
What Makes It Beautiful?
Gosh, it’s hard to beat that crystal blue Caribbean water, and you’re likely to see it a lot in this park! Calm waves and warm waters descend into abundant coral reefs, then ascend into richly forested hills, sprinkled with trails that run, like rain, right back down to those beaches! There are views overlooking Coral Bay that will make your jaw drop! With plants ranging from palms to cacti, and animals ranging from donkeys to hermit crabs, there’s a surprise around each corner, whether you choose to trek inland or put on your fins and live out your subaquatic fantasies!
How Can I #HelpTheHelpers?
- Volunteer at Virgin Islands National Park!
- Donate to Virgin Islands National Park!
- Be a responsible visitor! Remember the old adages: Pack out what you pack in! Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints!

When Should I Visit the Park?
Visitor center hours are not great for weekend visitors, but at least they leave the passport stamp outside! It’s open Monday through Thursday from 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM and Friday from 8:15 AM to 1:30 PM! As to the locations themselves, you can visit any time between sunrise and sunset, but be warned! You might have trouble catching a taxi home!
