What is it? |
Carlsbad Caverns National Park houses over 100 caves, including the world’s largest known limestone cavern! |
What makes it beautiful? |
There are stalactites, and then there are grand stone chandeliers; there are stalagmites, and then there are towering stone skyscrapers! Visiting the Big Room of Carlsbad Caverns is less like wandering a cave and more like setting foot in the subterranean metropolis of the kobolds and tommyknockers!
The winding path takes visitors right up through the massive Hall of GIants and the tiny, delicate Doll’s Theater. And all around, between bottomless pits and crystal clear pools, is fairyland, where mysterious popcorn-shaped globs of stone cover the floor! It’s a place to let your imagination run wild, to forget the boundaries between fantasy and reality! |
