When the sun is out, the glassy water creates magnificent reflections of the icy peaks lining this spectacular bay, while in the rain, the clouds sink low, forming wispy scarves and veils that curve around the mountain slopes mysteriously. The water itself is a patchwork of textures, from the salt sprinkles that are icebergs to the surprisingly distinct lines between the brown glacial runoff and the blue baywater! Keep a sharp eye out for humpback whales, seals, and the super duper rare blue glacier bear! |

Your best bet is to visit Glacier Bay via cruise ship, but if you are able to get to Gustavus, Alaska, you’ll find the visitor center at the end of Park Road, 4.7 miles west of Mountain View Road!
From Anchorage: ~527mi (849km) — 3hrs
From Fairbanks: ~591mi (952km) — 6hrs
From Juneau: ~48mi (78km) — 1hrs
From Nome: ~1053mi (1695km) — 10hrs |
| When should I go? |
Your best bet is to go during the summer months when the weather is at its best. The visitor center is open daily between late May and early September from 10:30 AM until 8:00 PM! |
