What is it? |
This is the home where Robert Leroy Parker, a.k.a. Butch Cassidy, grew up and started learning how to become one of the West’s most famous outlaws! |
What makes it historical? |
The Parker family moved to this small cabin just south of Circleville, where, during his teenage years, he learned how to rustle cattle from a fellow named Mike Cassidy! He adopted his alternate first name from his stint as a butcher in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and his last name from his mentor so he wouldn’t disgrace his parents! That’s one considerate outlaw!
NOTE: Butch Cassidy was born in Beaver, Utah! That alone is worth mention! |
How can I Help the Helpers? |
HERE’S HOW:
- Drop a donation in the box to help maintain trails, signs, structures, and other visitor services!
- Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
