What is it? |
The art deco administration building for Idaho State University! |
What makes it historical? |
In 1939, architect, Frank G. Paradice, completed this student union building on the campus of what was then the Southern Branch of the University of Idaho! A native of Ontario, Mr. Paradice moved to Idaho and formed an architecture partnership in Boise before moving to Pocatello and opening his own firm in 1913. A big fan of both art deco and terra cotta, which he called “gingerbread,” Mr. Paradice incorporated his love of both into his design of this building! He then went on to design most of the buildings in downtown Pocatello! |
How can I Help the Helpers? |
HERE’S HOW:
- Donate to Idaho State University!
- Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
