What Is the Morris Silverman House?
The Morris Silverman home is the largely intact house of one of Helena’s early Jewish settlers!
What Makes It Historical?
Twenty-five year old Morris Silverman arrived in Helena, Montana in 1867 and got to work with his brothers on a dairy farm and ranch! From there, he would go on to own a mercantile and serve on the Helena City Council. He also presided over the committee that set up a Jewish congregation and the nearby Temple Emanu-El! Today, his home is still a great example of eclectic late Victorian architecture in Montana’s capital!
