What Is the Boulder Bridge?
Boulder Bridge is an iconic walking bridge in Rock Creek Park!
What Makes It Historical?
Designedby W.J. Douglas in 1902, this bouldery bridge was a great early example of “parkitecture,” making the most of local materials to create a structure that blended in with the surroundings! Though it is one of the oldest bridges in the park, it’s been strong enough to remain unaltered (apart from paving the road over it) since its creation!
How Can I #HelpTheHelpers?
- Volunteer at Rock Creek Park!
- Donate to the Rock Creek Conservancy!
- Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
