What is it? | The restored and refurbished adobe home of Francisco Solano Alviso! |
What makes it historical? | THE GUIDE SAYS: This building, erected in 1844-46 by Francisco Solano Alviso, was the first adobe house to be built in the Pleasanton Valley. It was originally called Alisal – The Sycamores. Following the Battle of Sunol Canyon, General John C. FrĂ©mont withdrew to this building, which became his headquarters for several days.
OTHER TIDBITS: A true survivor, this adobe is one of the few left in Northern California to have survived the ravages of weather and earthquakes! The site was also home to the Meadowlark Dairy, the first certified dairy in California! |
