What is it? |
Greenbelt Park is a healthy clump of greenery in the heart of suburban Maryland! |
What makes it beautiful? |
Living up to its name, Greenbelt Park is made up of gorgeous, emerald woodland filled with nature trails and boardwalks! While it’s really peaceful, even spooky at times, in general, what I found equally neat were the many exotic mushrooms on the forest floor! Chanterelles, honey mushrooms, and oyster mushrooms were everywhere, some almost as big as I am! They came in whites, beiges, and even intense orange, and apparently a bunch of them are edible too! I don’t think the park allows you to eat the mushrooms, but it’s a great reference for the next time you’re out foraging in the woods! Just be sure to watch out for ticks in this park! Yuck! |
How can I Help the Helpers? |
HERE’S HOW:
- Volunteer at Greenbelt Park!
- Become a member of the Friends of Still Creek!
- Be a responsible visitor! Remember the old adages: Pack out what you pack in! Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints!
