Germany has a reputation for toughness, and I could definitely see evidence of this in the sharp architecture and the hardiness of the people in the freezing winters. However, amidst the cold, I experienced great warmth through afternoon tea and cake and great company. I also experienced my first extra-American national park here, just a taste of the grandeur that nature has to offer in the rest of the world!
