Buenos Aires became an autonomous city in 1880, separate from Buenos Aires Province! It was named by Spanish sailors for the “good winds” that brought them safely to port! This city is the capital of Argentina! You may recognize the Casa Rosada, Plaza de Mayo, Obelisk of the Plaza de la República, and La Recoleta Cemetery, which are located in this autonomous city!
